Looking to launch or expand a Chinese language and culture program in your K–12 school or district? Apply now to host a visiting Chinese teacher for the 2010-11 school year. Now in its fourth year, the Chinese Guest Teacher Program is the largest K–12 Chinese guest teacher program in the U.S., and has brought more than 300 Chinese teachers to U.S. schools to teach Chinese language and culture. The program is sponsored by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, in partnership with the College Board and National Council of State Supervisors for Languages.

With SAT.collegeboard.com, the new SAT® student website from the College Board, high school students and their families will find it easier to get ready and register for the SAT. The new site provides a streamlined, engaging Web experience by combining uncluttered design, concise content, and new and improved functionality to make it easier to complete SAT — and SAT Subject Test-related activities online. The site is organized around the three areas: practicing, registering, and viewing and sending scores.

Individual Winner Ruoyi Jiang

The national winners of the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology were announced in New York City on Dec. 7, 2009. The top individual honor and a $100,000 college scholarship were awarded to Ruoyi Jiang, a senior at Ward Melville High School of East Setauket, N.Y., for his research on chemotherapy drug resistance. Taking the top team prize and sharing a $100,000 scholarship were Sean Karson, a senior at Trinity Preparatory High School in Winter Park, Fla.; Dan Liu, a junior at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy High School in Austin, Texas; and Kevin Chen, a junior at William P. Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas.

In 2009, the Siemens Founders Award was awarded to five high school teachers who have encouraged students to participate in math, science or technology research and who also have provided the necessary support for the Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology. These five teachers from New York, Oregon, Connecticut, Texas and Florida have been awarded an opportunity to participate in a hands-on summer research immersion program at Oak Ridge National Laboratories in Tennessee. The Siemens Founders Award is given in honor of Albert Hoser, founder and chairman emeritus of the Siemens Foundation.
